Crawfordsville Commercial Historic District property owners may apply here. Check this map to see if your property is in the district. Buildings must be at least 50 years old to qualify. Contact us if you need help determining this information.
This Architectural & Engineering (A&E) grant program assists with the cost of acquiring a professional Conditions Assessment of your building. These assessments consist of a detailed review of the material elements and components of your historic structure—including its structural integrity, exterior/interior finishes, building systems, and architectural ornamentation. Assessments must be performed by qualified professionals. Crawfordsville Main Street will provide a list of engineers and architects that specialize in historic buildings. These firms will provide estimates prior to doing your assessment.
Condition Assessments will generally not exceed $10,000. This grant requires 40 percent matching funds contributed by the property owner. Grantees are responsible for the contract with the company doing the assessment. This grant program is strictly limited to a report on conditions—not costs of any repairs or construction.

The Crawfordsville Main Street (CMS) grant review team is here to answer any questions you may have prior to or after filling out an application. Should you be awarded an A&E grant, we will also offer support during the search for an architectural-engineering company to help find the best fit for you.
